Gender Programmes - Graduation Ceremony

The Office of the Prime Minister (Gender and Child Affairs) on Sunday 21st August, 2016, celebrated the graduation of three hundred and three (303) men, women from the Women in Harmony, Defining Masculine Excellence and Food Preparation and Home Management for Men and Boys Programmes.

The Women in Harmony boasted fifty one (51) successful participants from Jerningham, Vessigny and St Joseph with training in Agriculture/ Landscaping and Elderly Care.

The Defining Masculine Excellence Programme completed its six week course with ninety three (93) participants from the communities of Sangre Grande, Port of Spain and Point Fortin. The workshop featured more than ten (10) modules designed specifically to stem the tide of problems associated with concept and perceptions of masculinity and catered to males aged fourteen (14) and older.

The Food Preparation and Home Management Programme for Men and Boys five week workshop, graduated one hundred and sixty (160) participants from ten communities namely; Gulf View San Fernando, Malabar, San Rafael, Point Cumana, Boos Rio Claro, Princes Town, Barataria, Toco, Vessigny and Arouca. Participants showcased their culinary and home management skills at the graduation ceremony by providing refreshment for all invited guests.

During the graduation ceremony, the valedictorians shared their experiences and how the programmes altered their lives.  The Honourable Ayanna Webster Roy, Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister (Gender and Child Affairs), sincerely congratulated all the graduates on completing the course. The Minister encouraged the graduands to share the information received in the workshops with their families, friends and communities thus transforming lives and making Trinidad and Tobago a safer, secured and progressive country.
