The Honourable Ayanna Webster-Roy, Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister (Gender and Child Affairs) delivered the feature address at the Launch of the State of the World’s Children Report 2016: on Wednesday 29th 2016 at the Hilton Trinidad and Conference Centre.
School children were present to both participate in the launch through musical and verbal talent, as well as witness the official launch. Ms. Khin-Sandi Lwin, UNICEF Representative for the Eastern Caribbean Area presented the Honourable Ayanna Webster-Roy with the final report while the ceremony was streamed online for local and international viewers.
The State of the World’s Children Report 2016, is an annual report produced by UNICEF to address the different issues affecting the development of children across the world. This year, one of its four areas of priority is ‘Promotion of equity for children and reduction of child poverty’. In light of this, the theme for this year’s report is “A fair chance for every child”, which discussed the main areas where children are disadvantaged and is a call to action for every country to eradicate inequality among children.
